The gold standard is double box, double label, with every seam taped. Declare the value at the deal price or the replacement value.

Drop off and ship insured
Drop it at a staffed FedEx location so you get a receipt and the package changes hands on camera. Signature is required on delivery, and you can have it held at FedEx for pickup with ID so nothing sits on a porch.

Claims that actually get paid
The real test of watch shipping insurance is whether it pays when something goes wrong. When a package of ours was lost, ShipIFS paid the claim within 48 hours of FedEx formally declaring it lost. The wait is usually on the carrier side, since FedEx can take days or weeks to deem a package lost. Keep your drop-off receipt.

As a rough example, an overnight package with $10,000 of insurance runs around $100 depending on the route, and the Moda member rate sits below what a standard retail ShipIFS customer pays.
Built against porch theft
Signature is required on delivery, and you can route the package to hold at a FedEx location for pickup with ID, so a six-figure box never sits unattended at a door.
International and customs
ShipIFS ships internationally and can handle the customs side for you. You decide whether the buyer or the seller covers duties. It can also insure loose diamonds or gold once your account is set up for it.

How do I ship a watch safely?

How do I ship a Rolex?
A Rolex ships the same way as any other watch worth protecting: double box it, tape every seam, declare the full replacement value, and require a signature on delivery. Coverage runs up to $150,000 in declared value on a domestic shipment, and every Rolex in a Moda deal goes out exactly this way through ShipIFS.
Does FedEx declared value cover watches?
Carrier declared value has strict limits on jewelry and watches, and it is not the same thing as insurance. ShipIFS closes that gap with transit insurance underwritten by Lloyd's of London that covers loss, damage, and theft at the value you declare.
How much coverage can I get on one shipment?

What happens if a package is lost?
