The story
The GMT-Master II was developed to let pilots and frequent travelers track a second time zone using a 24-hour bezel alongside the normal hour hand, continuing a line that began with the original GMT-Master in 1954. The blue and black bezel combination that earned this family the Batman nickname first appeared in 2013 on reference 116710BLNR, the first Rolex GMT to use a two-tone Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert. In 2019, Rolex retired the 116710BLNR and replaced it with the 126710BLNR, giving the line a new case with slightly slimmer lugs and a more rounded profile compared to the squarer 116710BLNR, while keeping the 40mm diameter. The bigger change was under the dial, where the calibre 3285 replaced the calibre 3186, raising power reserve from 48 hours to about 70 and adding Rolex's Chronergy escapement. The 2019 update also introduced the Jubilee bracelet as an option on a Professional Rolex sport watch for the first time, a notable departure since the GMT-Master line had previously been offered only on the Oyster bracelet.
