Why it matters
Grey market dealers sell genuine, authentic watches outside the brand's official distribution channels. The watches are real but the warranty situation depends on how the dealer sourced them. Some grey dealers offer their own warranty; some sell pieces with the original manufacturer warranty intact.
Grey market is not the same as fake. The pieces are authentic. The trade-off is usually price (often below MSRP for lower-demand models, or above MSRP for waitlisted models) versus warranty certainty.
Common questions
- What is a grey market watch?
- A grey market watch is a genuine, authentic watch sold outside the brand's official authorized dealer network. The watch itself is real; the warranty status varies based on how the dealer sourced the piece.
- Are grey market watches fake?
- No. Grey market specifically refers to authentic watches sold outside official channels. Counterfeit or fake watches are a separate category. Grey market dealers handle real watches sourced through wholesale or other non-authorized routes.
