The story
The Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph, reference 5990, was introduced in 2014 as the first Nautilus to combine a flyback chronograph with a dual time zone and day and night indicators in one case, built around Patek's Caliber CH 28-520 C FUS, a self-winding movement with a Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring. The original steel version, 5990/1A-001, paired the complications with a black to gray gradient dial and was produced for close to a decade before it was discontinued. In early 2022 Patek Philippe discontinued the 5990/1A-001 and replaced it a short time later with the current 5990/1A-011, keeping the same 40.5mm case, movement, and complications but switching to a blue to black gradient dial. A rose gold version of the reference, 5990/1R-001, joined the collection in 2021 with a sunburst blue dial and has continued in production alongside the steel 5990/1A-011.

The travel time function uses two pushers built into the case flank at 8 and 10 o'clock to adjust the local hour hand independently, so test that both pushers move the hour hand cleanly forward and backward in single-hour steps during an inspection.
