The story
The Sea-Dweller line dates back to 1967, when Rolex built a deeper diving companion to the Submariner for saturation divers working with Comex, adding a helium escape valve so the case would not pop its crystal during decompression. The reference 126600 arrived in 2017, timed to the model's 50th anniversary, and replaced the smaller reference 116600 that had been in production since 2008. The most visible change was size: the case grew from 40mm to 43mm and the lugs widened to 22mm to match. Rolex also gave the 126600 a Cyclops lens over the date window, something every Sea-Dweller before it had deliberately gone without, since the extra dome interfered with the fully sealed case Rolex wanted for deep diving.
