The story
The no-date Submariner ref. 124060 was introduced in September 2020 as part of a broad refresh of the Submariner family that also brought new colored-bezel Submariner Date models. It replaced the ref. 114060, which had been in production since 2012, and it kept the model's traditional formula of a black dial, black ceramic bezel, and no date window, a configuration favored by buyers who prefer the cleaner dial of the earlier Submariners from the 1950s and 1960s. The headline change from the 114060 was a larger 41mm case, up from 40mm, achieved through a case and lug reshaping that Rolex says kept the lug-to-lug length close to the outgoing model despite the wider dial opening.
