The story

The WBP201A.BA0632 is a stainless steel reference from TAG Heuer's Aquaracer Professional 300 line, the result of a 2021 relaunch that reworked the Aquaracer collection's design language and naming. Instead of the older WAY-prefixed reference codes, TAG Heuer moved to a WBP prefix system and gave the diver an octagonal bezel and dial index motif shared across the redesigned Aquaracer family. The reference before this generation, generally referenced as WAY201A, was a 41mm Aquaracer 300M also built around a Calibre 5 automatic movement with a black aluminum bezel insert and a 38 hour power reserve. The 2021 Professional 300 kept the same Calibre 5 movement and power reserve but increased the case to 43mm, switched the bezel insert to ceramic, and gave the dial an octagonal index pattern that echoes the shape of the redesigned bezel. TAG Heuer sells the Aquaracer collection alongside a related, slimmer Aquaracer Professional 200 line rated to 200 meters, and separately markets higher-specification Professional 300 Date and GMT models fitted with the COSC-certified Calibre TH31-00, which carries an 80 hour power reserve.

What to check before you buy

Buyers should check whether a listed Aquaracer is the Professional 200 or Professional 300, since the two lines look similar but differ in water resistance rating, case thickness and bezel material, and are priced differently. Within the Professional 300 range, confirm whether the movement is the standard Calibre 5 (38 hour reserve, as in the WBP201A) or the COSC-certified TH31-00 fitted to some Date and GMT variants, since the TH31-00 models carry a chronometer certificate and a longer power reserve. The ceramic bezel insert resists scratching but can chip on a hard impact, so inspect the bezel edge closely on used pieces.

Common questions

What is the difference between Aquaracer Professional 200 and 300?

The Professional 300 is rated to 300 meters and uses a thicker case with a unidirectional ceramic bezel, while the Professional 200 is a slimmer, dressier diver rated to 200 meters.

What movement powers the WBP201A.BA0632?

TAG Heuer's Calibre 5, an automatic movement based on a Sellita ebauche, with a 38 hour power reserve.

Is there a version with a longer power reserve?

Yes, some Aquaracer Professional 300 Date and GMT references use the COSC-certified Calibre TH31-00, which offers an 80 hour power reserve, alongside the standard Calibre 5 models.

What replaced the older WAY-series Aquaracer 300M?

TAG Heuer's 2021 redesign replaced the WAY201A generation with the current WBP-prefixed Aquaracer Professional 300, increasing case size to 43mm and switching to a ceramic bezel insert.

How water resistant is this watch?

300 meters, confirmed by TAG Heuer's official specifications for the Professional 300 line.
