Why it matters

Head Only means just the watch head: the case and dial, with no bracelet, strap, box, or papers. It is common when an owner kept the bracelet for another watch or sold it separately. Head-only pricing is lower, but the savings are only real if you already have the right bracelet or plan to put it on a strap.

The catch is that factory bracelets, especially for Rolex and Patek, are expensive to source separately and can erase the discount. Before buying head only, price the correct bracelet so you know the true all-in cost.

Common questions

What does head only mean in watches?
Head only means the watch is sold as just the case and dial, with no bracelet, strap, box, or papers.
Is buying head only worth it?
It can be if you already own the correct bracelet or plan to wear it on a strap. Just price the factory bracelet first, since for brands like Rolex and Patek it can cost enough to wipe out the head-only discount.
