Why it matters
Polar refers to the white-dial Rolex Explorer II. It's one of the cleanest Rolex sport-watch dials and stands out next to the more common black-dial version. The 24-hour bezel and the bright dial make it readable in any light.
When evaluating a Polar, check the dial for any yellowing or staining; the white dial is unforgiving. Ask for natural-light photos at multiple angles.
Common questions
- What is a Polar Rolex?
- Polar is the collector nickname for the Rolex Explorer II with a white dial. The black-dial version of the same reference is the more common configuration.
- Is a Polar Explorer II rare?
- It's not rare in the absolute sense but it's produced in lower volume than the black-dial version. Pricing on the secondary market reflects that gap.
