Why it matters
Rainbow is the Rolex Daytona with a bezel set with multi-colored sapphires in a graduated rainbow, references such as 116595RBOW. It is one of the most flamboyant factory Rolex configurations and one of the most expensive Daytonas outside of vintage. These were allocated to top clients, so most sales happen quietly.
At this price point, gem authenticity and factory origin are everything. A factory-set Rainbow is worlds apart from an aftermarket gem job. Insist on Rolex documentation and an expert gem and movement inspection before any deal.
Common questions
- What is a Rainbow Rolex?
- It is the Rolex Daytona with a bezel set with multi-colored sapphires arranged in a rainbow gradient, in references such as 116595RBOW. It is a factory gem-set Daytona, not an aftermarket modification.
- How do I know a Rainbow Daytona's gems are factory?
- Factory Rainbow Daytonas come with Rolex documentation and pass gem and setting inspection by a qualified jeweler or watchmaker. Aftermarket rainbow bezels exist and are worth a fraction of a factory-set example, so verification is essential.
