The story
Tudor introduced the Black Bay Fifty-Eight at Baselworld 2018 as a smaller-cased addition to the Black Bay family, at 39mm compared to the 41mm of the standard Black Bay. The name and the reduced case size were chosen to reference the ref. 7924, a compact dive watch Tudor built in 1958, and the model was positioned as a more historically proportioned alternative to the larger Black Bay. The 79030N uses the Caliber MT5402, a shorter version of the movement architecture found in the larger Black Bay's MT5602, built to fit the smaller case while keeping the same 70-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. The dial carries gilt-toned accents and a matte black bezel insert, closely following the vintage-inspired look that made the model one of Tudor's most popular references after launch. Since its introduction, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight has stayed in Tudor's core lineup and has been joined by variants in other materials and colors, as well as by a related Black Bay Fifty-Eight GMT model.
