Why it matters

Box and Papers (B&P) is shorthand for the original presentation box, warranty card, and any other documentation the watch shipped with. A watch with B&P trades meaningfully higher than the same watch without, sometimes by 5-15% depending on the model and condition. For modern Rolex, an unstamped or recent warranty card adds a meaningful premium.

If you're buying, get a clear picture of the warranty card showing the reference number, serial number, and date stamp. If you're selling, gather everything that came with the watch before you list. A missing card is a frequent cause of last-minute deal renegotiation.

Common questions

What does B&P mean in watches?
B&P stands for Box and Papers. It refers to the original presentation box and warranty/documentation that accompanied the watch when it left the dealer. It's the most-asked question in any watch listing because B&P watches resell for more.
How much more is a watch with B&P worth?
It varies by brand and model. For modern Rolex, B&P typically adds 5-15% versus a head-only sale. For vintage, an original signed box and a stamped warranty card from the original AD can add significantly more.
